"Bleeding Heart" is comprised of several elements: raised watercolor pencil on cold press watercolor paper, papier mache heart, glass mirror shards, dimensional paint, hand-painted and lacquered rose border & India Ink.
This painting portrays the scars we earn as we go through life; while they still bleed and the pain is as sharp as glass, we do not suffer alone, even though we sometimes feel as if we do. The Madonna embossed on the heart points to her own Sacred Heart and reminds us that she, too, experienced pain and feels ours as well.
